Birthday: June 13, 1924

Lineage: Half-blood

Description

Petite yet athletic defines this mid-teen girl's diminutive figure, hazel-green eyes sharp with clarity and intensity. Wavy, amberish-blonde locks pulled back into a ponytail that streams down her back. A pair of thin blue headbands help to keep stray tresses from her smooth brow. Meanwhile, a subtle dabbing of cosmetics augments youthful features and a rosy-pale complexion. It's all very tasteful and natural looking.

She wears a Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry uniform. Rather notable by the blue and bronze colouring, she must have sorted into House Ravenclaw. A grey vest edged in blue and bronze covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt-line to the collar and accented with a blue tie with narrow bronze stripes. The shirt is tucked neatly into a matching grey pleated skirt. Skirt and stockings meet at the knees, and black Mary Janes are worn on her feet. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Ravenclaw Blue fabric, unadorned except for a bronze eagle flying over a striped blue background sewn over the heart.

Lastly, she gives off a warm woodsy fragrance of bergamot and vanilla with a fresh yet spicy tinge of floral iris and jasmine.

Pet

The very first day she boarded the train to Hogwarts, one of her father's servants gave Cara a kitten. She had previously chosen the name Tyche at the pet store, for the ancient Greek goddess of luck. Its mother was a beautiful white cat, but whether through sabotage or destiny, Tyche was not only a lustrous black Chartreux of a different breed entirely, but a male. In any case, she kept the name and the cat, and has never regretted it since.

Daughter to Gormund Goyle and Neria Kothari, Carolyn was utterly infatuated with adventure almost the very moment she was born. Unfortunately, being raised by a near-destitute Squib prostitute and shunned by a pure-blooded aristocrat was not the sort of adventure she ever had in mind. She spent the lion's share of her time reading books or playing with the many children of her many nannies, most of which were kindly coworkers of her mother's. My, were there quite an assortment of books she read. The little London apartment was stacked from floor to ceiling with numerous books on everything a young mind could read, and some most young minds could not. She fancied herself an adventurer-in-the-making, and an esteemed role like that naturally required knowing obscure languages. She took to languages with surprising ease, particularly archaic or magical ones like Ancient Greek or Troll. She learned a plethora of lore on fantastical topics before hardly reaching her double digits. Of course, reading locked up in some room often grew weary and boring. And so, the rest of her very young childhood consisted of make-believe and mischief-mongering with those near to her age. When she was just ending her seventh year, disaster struck before her very eyes.

Cara always had a knack for wild and uncontrolled magic, heating the room or changing the colors of her eyes or hair when she had a particularly emotional outburst. But she had never known her chaotic talents could extend so far as to protect her when others were not. One day when she was seven, she heard a very loud and very intense argument on the other side of her thin apartment walls. There was an abrupt clashing sound, and then all hell broke loose. Wood was never an especially resistant material to the elements, so after a strange silence from her neighbor's household, her own walls began to get really hot. So hot, in fact, that the slightest touch stung her fingers. She thought it a mere curiosity at the time, and waved her mother over to touch the wall too. By the time Neria walked in, the wood began splitting and breaking apart. Almost a minute passed in baffled confusion before it was realized the neighbor's place was on fire. They tried unlocking their main door and fleeing, but the doorknob was pink with heat. They could hardly jump from the window, as they were many stories up. By the end, half of Neria's arm was half severely burned, and they both nearly succumbed to smoke inhalation. As it stood, it was only her mother that did, and Cara just barely escaped with a desperate jump from the window and two inconceivably whole legs. She was one of only a few survivors as the building was slowly eaten into an ashy skeleton of its former self. The wizards arrived after the fire truck came, and the youth required days to mentally recuperate enough for speech. Next came an edict, wherein it was judged what would happen to the poor orphaned girl.

Since Cara was only seven when it happened, and very much traumatized by the ordeal, it was decided she needed a new guardian. Naturally, the Ministry elected to put her under the custody of her biological father, to be watched and cared for with no other home to call her own now. Gormund Goyle interacted with her like a wild and dirty animal, keeping far away from her and the political threat her presence might portend. He demanded that she attend etiquette lessons to better teach the half-blood how to interact with those above her station. She had a few new nannies, but this time those nannies were experienced with nurturing traumatized children back to full mental health. For Cara herself, it took her years to come out of her shell. She delved deeper into her books than ever before, mastering languages she was little more than acquainted with at startling speeds. She was also allowed to read books of magic on conjuration and transfiguration, as those were her most interested magical subjects by far. Eventually, the time came to attend Hogwarts, and begin a new chapter in her life.

As a First Year student at Hogwarts, Cara kept mostly to herself, happy to continue reading books instead of listening to the cruelty of bullies. She was called a half-blood and a murderer, despite being only in proximity to the event, the daughter of a whore and the friend of criminals. She did her best to ignore it all, and eventually even did something about it. She decided to join the Athletics club and the Broom club, using both as a means to cool her temper and finding some sort of acclaim in the school. Bit by bit, the cruelty lessened, and even her nannies had become comfortable with her presence. Comfortable enough, in fact, to allow her to meet her old friends in the London suburbs, and at least heal old wounds among those she knew there. She began to dabble in the underworld at the behest of her friends, pressured to steal and lie and play lookout for her urchin buddies. This, coupled with a school visit to the Gringotts bank, reinvigorated her to the thrills and infatuation she once had with adventure. By her Fifth year in Hogwarts, she joined the Ravenclaw Quidditch team as a Beater, which substantially decreased the bullying to a meager trickle. She was lauded for her skill, and overjoyed to finally feel welcome and befriended by most of her peers and even some pure-bloods. On top of that, she now had a true aspiration once she finished schooling at Hogwarts. To become a distinguished Curse-Breaker the likes of which the world has never seen.

Quirks

  • Adventurous: Cara absolutely loves both adventure and its more trouble-making cousin, misadventure. If you've got some fun to cause, she's more than happy to join your party.
  • Not Your Average Luck: Born on Friday the thirteenth, with a seven-inch wand, of a Dragon Heartstring Core. All these things combine to make Cara rarely experience merely normal success or failure. Rather, she'll usually be the one with the most or least luck of the draw.
  • Polyglot
  • Wealth: Comfortable If there's any good thing about living under the roof of a bureaucratic father that looks at you like you're a mongrel, it's that she can live quite comfortably.

RP Hooks

  • Mischief-monger: Cara loves to make mischief, especially when it comes to those tedious grownups and their annoying rules. Does she have a kindred spirit in you?
  • Adventurer with a capital A: Cara is infatuated with adventure and intrigue and unusual lore. She aspires to being a Curse-Breaker, after all. Like her knack for making trouble, she'll be one of the first to go searching for a quest to call her own. Wanna join up or bring her along? Or are you one of those above tedious grownups that likes to spoil all the fun and in need of a 'Cara' to throw in detention?
  • Bully Bait: Cara is a half-blood daughter of a prostitute that died in a mysterious fire. That last part is lesser known, but she's certainly easy pickings for a Slytherin. That is, until she shows her own teeth.
  • Clubs: Cara is a member of the Athletics Club and the Broom Club, which means she might actually be seen doing club stuff with other club people.
  • Quidditch Player: Cara is one of the two Ravenclaw Beaters, and she takes a good deal of pride in her skills.

Relationships

NoImage_icon.jpg

Gormund Goyle
Father: Cara and Gormund have a very strained relationship. Gormund sees his daughter as an uncouth half-blood fit only to be kept at a very safe distance from his wizarding political career, and a responsibility near-forced upon him by the Ministry. Cara sees her father as the only remaining member of her nuclear family, and someone she always strives to make proud, one way or another. She just wants him to love her, but all she gets is the cold shoulder. At least he has slightly warmed to her over the years since she was thrust into his home at seven years old. Courteous even, on his good days (her good days).

Neria Kothari
Mother: Cara had only known her mother for the first seven years of her life. There are some things that are foggy, and other things she tries to repress, particularly the day of her death. Neria was very warm and kind and compassionate, even if she was often busy with her less than reputable work. Her best memories were as a young child, growing up eating her mother's food and listening to her mother read her favorite books.

Brody

Brody
Seventh Year - A year ahead of Cara, she's excited that he has the opportunity of a lifetime as he's been invited to try out for Puddlemere United. He's a good student, and a good friend.
