Description

George Blishwick is a fair skinned, teenaged young man of middling height, and light and lanky in build. Light brown hair is kept side parted and swept off to his right side. Held in place by the slightest use of product. Kept well out of his blue wide set and just ever so slightly bulging eyes. All in all his appearance is an old soul captured in a youthful body.
At the moment George is wearing a Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry uniform. Rather notable by the green and silver colouring he must have sorted into House Slytherin. A grey vest edged in green and silver covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt to the collar and accented with a green tie with narrow silver stripes. The shirt is tucked neatly into matching gray trousers that fall to the tops of black shoes. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Slytherin Green fabric, unadorned except for a silver snake slithering over a green background with a silver chevron sewn over the heart.

Background

George Blishwick was born October 24th, 1924 as the second of three children to Nelson and Georgia Blishwick, formerly Georgia Meliflua, a pureblood family of otherwise little note. Growing up in Hogsmeade village, the family formed a small clan, of the sort rural folk often do. His relations with his parents were… acceptable. As a boy, George was never particularly rowdy, and so never received much in the way of attention. Negative or otherwise. Amongst his siblings, George was often the Mediator, generally impartial and passionless, he could be counted on to give a fair resolution… if that's what they wanted. Though not always easy, Nelson fostered his son's interest in magical history as a child. First by telling him, not always truthful, stories of their families history. And then once he was a bit older, by purchasing him books on famous figures. An endeavor supported by his Grandpa Osborn.

In 1935, George was finally able to attend Hogwarts, and this was easily, the most excitable George had ever been in the families memory. The boy's usual calm, unemotional attitude shattered by excitement and tension, an opportunity that was not lost on certain individuals who filled his head with false stories of how sorting worked and the challenges of fighting merfolk pirates to get across the lake and face sorting at all. Needless to say, the actual affair was significantly less exciting. After a short wait, both in line due to the alphabet, and under the hat which was on his head for mere moments before sending him to Slytherin House, he was seated and watching the remainder of the sorting, his black robes newly trimmed green by magic. His studies in proper magic, and magical history especially, George Excelled. Wand waving and incantations were his bread and butter. On the other hand, certain classes deemed necessary…. were enot of such interest to him. Potions was interesting enough but the boy was never good at it scraping by acceptably, but not well, And he wished a pox upon the one who decided Herbology was necessary to his education, and don't get him started on Astronomy! What are we? Centaurs? The stars are pretty lights in the sky. Nothing more. Needless to say, while a dilligent pupil under some subjects, he struggled in those that didn't involve wand-work or book learning. Needless to say, he was headed for Ancient Runes and Arithmancy in his third year. The Blishwick family never one to particularly foster interest in muggles and muggle things, Divination being a soft option, and he already had to deal with Herbology, why would he want MORE living things under his care? As if one set wasn't messy enough! Bucking a certain level of family tradition, George chose to stay on after his O.W.L.s were done in fifth year, citing a desire to become a curse-breaker for Gringotts, which caused some level of surprise in those who knew him. He didn't particularly seem like the sort of person to take a glory-hound career like that. Taking on N.E.W.T.s in Ancient Runes, Defense against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, and Charms, George has done well enough with the Course load, difficult as it is. His books at book club events frequently take the form of textbooks for those classes now, rather than his former biographies and historical texts, his N.E.W.T.s intruding on almost every stage of his student life. Even Duelling club was seen as more of a practical extension of Defense against the Dark Arts, rather than the pleasant self-defense course of times past.

While still a student, Georges life has become one of stress and study. Though he suffers quietly at least. Or possibly not suffering as he seems happy enough. Far from starting a family, he's actually distanced himself a bit from the one he has. The only regular familial contact being in the form of Nelly. He still spoke with his Father and Grandfather. Was cordial, but it was relatively clear he was putting his studies ahead of everything else going into sixth year, and he spent much of the summer following his fifth year absent, on trips to Diagon Alley supposedly, or holed up in his room studying, though there was a few rumours that he'd been spotted entering Knockturn alley over the summer and entering bookshops of… less reputable nature. Though so far, he's kept silent on the matter, clearly throwing himself into his course load with gusto.

Quirks

  • Callous: George is a chilly individual. Emotionally barren. He was not attending Hogwarts to make friends after all, but to become a wizard.
  • Pragmatic: George is not one to get caught up in ideology or fancy when there is a practical solution to a problem. If the boot fits, wear it.
  • Withdrawn: George, whether due to his bookish ways, Chilly personality, or simply not wanting any, has so far failed to make any sort of presence in the Hogwarts Social scene. He's present, but he might as well be a piece of furniture for all the interaction he's had.
  • Purist: While he hasn't gone out of his way to express it, he clearly holds to Purist sentiments. Muggleborns should stick amongst their own, and Half-Bloods should get their houses in order to regain their purity. Muggles themselves… well they're not much better than animals are they? Admittedly, he holds great respect for Great Wizards. Dumbledore may be wrong, but that doesn't make him a fool. Wizardry must be acknowledged, no matter the beliefs of it's wielder.
  • Wealth: Comfortable

RP Hooks

  • BookWorm: Need someone who knows obscure things? George could make for a competent, if less than friendly, source of info or discussion on magic.
  • Blood Purist: George was never a member of the Magijugend, his families politics lying more with the Preservation society than the firebrand Grindelwald. But he's still a pureblood and blood purist.
  • Dark Arts: Lately, given his chosen career goals, George has taken a greater than normal interest in the dark arts. You can hardly break what you don't understand after all…
  • Linguist: Apart from English, George has picked up Arabic and Ancient Aramaic in his spare time. Perhaps he'd be better at Potions if he had chosen to use that time studying for it… alas, poor Slughorn, maligned so.

Georgia Blishwick
Mother: Georges relationship with his mother, and namesake, is a bit more tense than with his father, she's expressed clear dissaproval over his decision to pursue a dangerous career like Curse-Breaking. And thinks he should find a more stable and less life threatening Aspiration. Still, they get along well enough considering.

Llewellyn

Llewellyn
Brother George and Llewellyn are far from close. While cordial to Llewellyn, George is, to put it bluntly, a huge nerd. Sports are hardly interesting to him. Though he wishes his brother well, their spheres of interest are too distant to relate much.
