Welcome Welcome to Hogwarts
Where witches,
learn riches
and wizards,
become hazards,
to the obstacles in the way.
Let's get to the Firsties
for this is their day!
Come, don't dance like monkeys
or fret in dismay!
I know I don't look it
I can tell my appearance makes you fidget
But my story is worldly
I once graced Godric's head so boldy
He built his house
with no room for a mouse,
only room for the daring and brave
then I was stolen by a wicked old knave
Salazar did covet me
I'm magnificent as you can see!
All things great and wondrous
makes his house of Slytherin ponderous.
But no, he could not have us!
A fight did happen, I was torn
but Helga mended me, I was re-born.
You can see the black patch,
for good and caring she had no match.
But strife and tension did not slake
Until Rowena ever wise four statues did she make
Each Founder visage in stone was given a gift
A symbol of a peace treaty to heal the rift.
A secret in treasure gold,
A sword for the bold,
A cup to nurture and pleasure,
A crown of wit beyond measure.
Each gift they give still
though hidden for good or ill
The Founder's gifts forever hidden way
which of these four gifts will you display?
Last years lot were as thick as a pot.
Don't linger in thought.
Seek the treasures that are sought!
I will sing my song again you get a clue.
I will sing it til my stitches are blue.
Treasure, booty and glory to claim.
If you do nothing, only you are to blame.
Welcome Welcome to Hogwarts
Where witches,

Let's get to the firsties
for this is their day!
Come, don't dance like monkeys
or fret in dismay!
I know I don't look it,
I can tell my appearance makes you fidgit.
But my story is worldly,
listen whilest I explain hurridly.
Godric Gryffindor built his house
with no room for a mouse,
only room for the daring and brave
then I was stolen by a wicked old knave
Salazar did covet me
I'm magnificent as you can see!
All things great and wondrous
makes his house of Slytherin ponderous.
But no, he could not have us!
A fight did happen, I was torn
but Helga mended me, I was re-born.
Here you can see the black patch,
for good and caring she had no match.
But strife and tension did not slake
Until Rowena ever wise four statues did she make
Each Founder visage in stone was given a gift
A symbol of a peace treaty to heal the rift.
A secret in treasure gold,
A sword for the bold,
A cup to nuture and pleasure,
A crown of wit beyond measure.
Only one gift has been found,
But the finder made no sound.
Three gifts they have still
though hidden for good or ill
The Founder's Gifts forever hidden way
which of these four gifts will you display?
Thrice I will not sing a song
For the treasures they are all gone
No cup, no crown, no sword of might
only the locket sings with delight
So I sing my song and melody
Of where students ought to be
Chosen by the founders four
To help young students find their way
When, confused, they stumble in the door
On their first Hogwarts day
Four houses to choose from
Not one less or more
Each one by a different founder
To fill with students they adore
Gryffindor, loving bravery
Chose the strong of heart
While Slytherin, feeling differently
Thought cunning the greatest art
Ravenclaw claimed for her own house
The clever and the smart
While Hufflepuff took to her embrace
The just and kind of heart
All these students, with their differences
Are each key to this great school
And if Hogwarts hopes to stand
Unity's the greatest tool
House to house and hand to hand
Leaving differences behind
Only when you work together
Can your strengths all be combined
Now at last, the time has come
For me to send you separate ways
But remember, our division
Could bring the end of Hogwarts' days
In days of yore when times were old,
I was young under the sun.
Now I am old and you are not,
Your journey's just begun.
Into my fabric and my seams
Was mighty magic wrought.
The proper way to find a house
For each new student sought.
In Hogwarts welcome will be found
And refuge amidst strife,
For all who seek to call it home,
For wisdom transforms life.
In Gryffindor the brave will go,
The chivalrous and true.
If courage is your boldest aim,
the Lion is for you.
In Ravenclaw the intellect
Is deemed a mighty prize.
If wit and knowledge are your love,
The Eagle will arise.
In Hufflepuff the patient ones
Persevere within our walls.
If you are unafraid to toil,
The steadfast Badger calls.
In Slytherin, that canny house,
The cunning achieve their ends.
If a deep ambition drive you on,
The Snake will find you friends.
Divided like the compass rose
To North, East, South, and West,
Apart and yet we make a whole;
United we are best.
