Description

This elegant, well-preserved woman appears to be perhaps seventy years old. She stands only 5'4", and weighs about 130 lbs., and has lightly tanned skin, surprisingly smooth for a woman of her years. Her hair is a honey blonde, long, and curled up around her head in an ornate up-do of waves, including one large curl of her bangs that twists down over her left temple. Beneath arched eyebrows a shade darker than her hair, here eyes are blue and deep set on either side of a long straight nose, with crows feet beginning to mark her age. Round cheeks are kept rosy with a light application of clearly expensive cosmetics, and more of the same turns her lips a dark red. Laugh lines frame her mouth, and a small beauty mark is set low on her left cheek. She maintains a classic hourglass figure, with a slim waist and broader hips.

She is tastefully and elegantly dressed. A saffron silk blouse with a high neck is worn with a long skirt of black wool, coming to mid-calf. Boots disappear under the skirt and have ornamental silver buckles and a stacked heel. A set of robes in burnt orange finishes the outfit, though it is paired with a pointed witch's hat on appropriate occasions. Dangling diamond earrings grace the lobe of each ear, and a multi-strand string of pearls ending in a cameo brooch nestle in the hollow of her throat. A few rings and bracelets clink on her fingers, including a large ring that Wizarding history buffs might remember from a painting of Minister Ottaline Gambol.

Background

Daughter of Jamerson Mather and Helena Kneen two struggling half-blood actors that met each other when they joined a Muggle Theatre to enact A Midsummer Night's Dream. They were very poor, but they had each other and eventually Titania was born. It was after his daughter was born that Jamerson got it in his mind that things needed to get better for her sake and so he got into politics. His acting ability allowed him an edge on the political platforms and eventually he worked his way through the ranks and by the time Titania was on her way to Hogwarts, Jamerson was in the Central Office in the Ministry.

Titania became a Ravenclaw and beyond her core classes studied Care of Magical Creatures and the Study of Ancient Runes as her electives. She was made Prefect for her house and eventually became Head Girl while she was studying Charms, Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts as her N.E.W.T. courses.

After graduation Titania Gambol rose through the ranks of the Ministry, beginning as an agent of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, and eventually leading it. In time, she was elected to the Wizengamot, where she spent six years before being elected Minister for Magic in 1903. She lost her seat in 1940 to Leonard Spencer-Moon. During that time she met Abraham Gambol at one of her father's political galas. Abraham was the great-grandson of Ottaline Gambol, an idol of Titania's. He was much older than she was and he woo'd her like a gentleman. He understood her nature and ambition and was a perfect politician's husband. Abraham remains on the Wizengamot and supports Titania's philanthropy and socialite life-style now that she's no longer in the Ministry. They have one son who rebelled against his sophisticated parents and runs a Joke shop in the Mysticked District with one of his buddies from Hogwarts.

Statute of Secrecy

It's worked for centuries to protect the wizarding populace and also the Muggle populace. It can continue to work with the right mindset including, patience, tolerance and privacy.

Jobs

Gambol has overseen projects and funds that help at-risk and or impoverished wizards to find work — even if she must make another janitorial position available in the Ministry of Magic.

Economy

Gambol is well liked by the goblins. She might not go as far as to award them wands as they would like, but she makes sure they are treated well and this has done good things for the economy. It is credited with keeping the wizarding U.K. afloat while the Muggles suffered the Great Depression.

Security/Defense

While she has not made any law like Archer Evermonde did, she fully realises there are those that will break the law as they did in World War I. But she has made it clear that if anyone is caught breaking the Statute of Secrecy they will be prosecuted to the full extend of the law. Her stance is that wizards do not need to use their magic in order to help Muggles in this war.

Immigration

Gambol believes in a restrictive but fair immigration law. Immigration must be heavily monitored so that attention is not drawn to the wizarding world. But once the proper channels are gone through, any race, religion, purity or gender is welcome.

Faith

Like the majority of the wizarding community, Gambol is secular. However she has always provided safety and acceptance for any and all who do have a faith of whatever origin. Since he took the position she has also been working with Headmaster Dumbledore to make sure those students of faith have the diet and cultural needs of their religion met and respected.

Education

It was under her leadership where Flint took his rise to power, it is true. However, like most Ministers, Gambol relies upon the Hogwarts Board of Governors and the Headmaster to govern Hogwarts. Since Dumbledore became Headmaster, she has been vocally supportive of his attempts to be more inclusive, such as his decision that House Slytherin will no longer be restricted to pure-bloods.

Health

During her leadership there was a crisis at St. Mungo's Hospital that put the entire building under quarantine. Gambol was personally manning the crisis center at the Ministry to support and provide updates and information to those worried about what was going on inside. The quarantine went smoothly and Gambol has since started a fund for research in each of the diseases that were unleashed that day. She also worked with the hospital board to implement security measure to see this sort of thing stopped before it starts. The reserved beds for M.L.E. members is something she strongly supports. Recently she has been trying to get free medical services for all Ministry workers, from janitors to department heads.

Foreign Policy

To Gambol one of the most glorious things about their world as it is is that the wizarding community around the world has been at peace for generations. She claims that the Unity Act can, and most likely will, destroy this peace. Over her tenure she's made many friends, allies and contacts in the foreign wizarding governments.

Environment

A staunch supporter in the reserves and protected lands within the United Kingdom. She is also a known supporter of an organization that is trying to get Stonehenge and its environs protected. But since this requires heavy memory modification it is considered by many a pipe-dream.

Nonhumans

Goblins, centaurs, house-elves, half-breeds, and other nonhumans such are treated well and with respect by Gambol. She might not be out to change anything — such as giving goblins wands, giving house-elves clothes, etc. — but she strongly believes in respect and kindness and empathy for all.
