Synopsis
The study of the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies. Not to be confused with astrology, which is an aspect of Divination. It is often considered a very neat class by students because it allows them to be out of their beds after Lights Out. In some form or another each year there is some sort of model making. Each student is provided 1 sickle for their budget in buying supplies for the Orreries (mobiles and or models of solar systems) they will be making each year. Gathering supplies and bringing in personal supplies is also allowed. Stealing will not be tolerated and the mobile project which is half of the grade every year will receive a T (Troll) Grade. The Orreries made 1st - 4th year of the Milky Way is part of the Astronomy O.W.L.s grade and then the Milky Way Orrery which is added onto during 6th and 7th year with the comet and other Galaxy Orreries is then used as part of the Astronomy N.E.W.T. grade.
Each particular subject roughly takes up two weeks time. Every class is two hours long.
In order to take Astronomy at the N.E.W.T. level a student must have an 'E' Grade in their Astronomy O.W.L.
