Description

Carolus is a gangly teenager, still coming into his adult mass. At about five foot, eight inches, he's rather tall for a sixteen year old, and carries himself with an exaggerated gravity, keeping a rigid posture whenever possible. His brown hair is kept neatly-trimmed to a finger-length, and looks to be more often brushed with his fingers than with a comb. His eyes are a pale brown, almost an amber, set beneath delicate lashes and thin brows. Really, his whole face is thin - a sharp oval, with high cheekbones and a narrow jaw. Freckles dot his cheeks and nose. Though still far from filling out, his frame shows signs of a wiry musculature.
At the moment Carolus is wearing a Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry uniform. Rather notable by the blue and bronze colouring he must have sorted into House Ravenclaw. A grey vest edged in blue and bronze covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt to the collar and accented with a blue tie with narrow bronze stripes. The shirt is tucked neatly into matching gray trousers that fall to the tops of black shoes. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Ravenclaw Blue fabric, unadorned except for a bronze eagle flying over a striped blue background sewn over the heart.

Background

Second-born to Andrew Rowle and Sophie Rowle nee Burke, Carolus was born on October 6, 1924. Andrew, his father, has always been the rock of his world — and also the person whom Carolus cannot bear to disappoint. Sophie, his mother, was far gentler with the boy and often comforted him in his early years after a brusque word from his father cast him down. Since the family was well-to-do, he access to the best schools and activities. Like most of his family, including his older sister, Carolus was sorted into Ravenclaw.

Though he is hard-working and scrupulously honest — or perhaps because of it — Carolus is not particularly popular in school. He lives by the rule-book, determined to become an Auror, and unwilling to bend even in the slightest if it means endangering Hogwarts's reputation. In third year he took on the electives of Divination and Muggle Studies. He is a member of the Duelling Club, joined the Quidditch Team in his Sixth Year. Though with the additional work load of his N.E.W.T.s in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions there might not be enough time to become Captain of the Team.

While his sister Andromena wanted to go to work for St. Mungo's, there was only one job that Carolus ever considered. He has lobbied, and worked as an intern in the Ministry offices, to become an Auror. He's sacrificed quite a few opportunities, and a couple of friendships, in his quest to earn the approval of his somewhat-non-communicative father. Ambitious to a fault, Carolus has a reputation for having a bit of a humorless git.

RP Hooks

On the Auror Path: It is Carolus' dream to be accepted into the ranks of the Aurors. It's why he does everything he does, as he does them.
Prefect: Carolus is a Prefect for Ravenclaw House. He is strict with the rules, and can get pretty intense about it. It's well known that he feels that Pringle is a hero of his. While he might lack the sadistic qualities of said hero, he is very much about the honour and reputation of Hogwarts and does everything in his power to make sure House Ravenclaw acts to its benefit and does nothing to dishonour itself.
Quidditch: With the Quidditch team in a state of adjustment with so many graduating in 1941, Carolus intends on taking up the reigns left vacant and lead them to victory! It will look fantastic on his application to the Auror Office.

Mother: (b. 1902) Pure-blood. Daughter of Gavril Burke and Suzette Burke nee Dubois. Married Andrew: 1919. Siblings: Marc (M. 1898), Eloi (M. 1900). Mother is expressive where father is not. Our relationship is much like any other; love and respect.

Andromena
Older Sister: (b. October 14th, 1921) Pure-blood. Carolus used to practice his investigation skills by going through Andromena's things before they went to Hogwarts. He still has the notebooks he would write like an evidence log of the things he found. This practice really came to an end around the time Andromena hit puberty. She learned that hiding her private things under her feminine supplies was a sure way to keep Carolus from digging further.

Delphina
Baby Sister (b. 1936) Pure-blood. Delphina is the surprise baby. She was conceived around the time that Carolus started Hogwarts. Proving that his parents can not be trusted at home alone with themselves. Easy targets of Empty Nest Syndrome.

Siegfried
Great Uncle: Pure-blood. Formerly a very great theoretical rune specialist, who once spent the best part of thirty years researching a Rune to repel fleas. Now rather deaf, and getting a bit 'eccentric', even as defined by the Rowles. Prone to long and rambling lectures on obscure areas of runic lore.
