"… Do the words that come out of your mouth ever remotely sound wrong?"
— Julian to Claire, after receiving wise and prudent counsel. Ungrateful sod.
Description
Claire is statuesque in build. Nearing six feet, she towers over most girls her age, and many of the boys. She has a habit of standing tall and claiming a large area of personal space. She is broad shouldered and athletic. Golden blonde hair falls past her shoulders in loose curls. Her eyes are brown.
At the moment Claire is wearing a school uniform trimmed in blue and bronze. Her clothes are no longer crisp, but have been kept in good condition. The blue and bronze Ravenclaw tie is tied with a half-Windsor knot.
Background
Thomas and Marie Cameron are decent, hardworking people. They are frugal and prudent with money, but not misers. Thomas fought in the Great War; Marie grew up without a father. There has been a great amount of tragedy in their lives, but it has prepared them to meet and overcome many challenges.
They were not prepared to raise a witch.
Claire was agreeable enough as a baby and toddler, but when she was still quite young she learned a most unfortunate lesson: if there was something she wanted, there was very little anyone could do to get in her way. If she was angry, or scared, she could make things happen. After a while, she didn't have to get particularly angry or scared, the threat of it was enough. It became impossible to make her do anything she was not inclined to do. She attended school sporadically, did her household chores on the rarest of occasions, and spent most of her time playing alone or reading in her room.
The situation reached a boiling point when Claire was nine. She had been begging for a pet dog for years, and something about being denied yet again set her rage and magic bubbling over. The resulting calamity was big, blatant, attracted the attention of the Ministry of Magic.
In the next two years, an incredible change came over Claire. She kept her nose clean and toed the line. She attended school. Her temper cooled considerably, and when she did lose it there was almost never an accompaniment of fireworks. While it cannot be said she was exactly friends with any of the other children, she ate lunch with the other girls and once was invited to a birthday party.
Quidditch

Claire joined her house team in her third year as a beater. In her fourth year she broke one person's forearm and another's clavicle. Fifth year she was made captain. Her broom is a third-hand Comet 140.
Hogwarts brought both profound culture shock and a sense of coming home. Claire has always felt, since she was first informed of her true heritage, that this is the place she is supposed to be. Claire loves being a witch, and is a rather strong one, if unrefined. Her magical style is more brute force than finesse. But it was a shock to be among people that could be actual peers, people who were both better informed and more powerful that she was. She also faced a degree of prejudice for being muggleborn. Although she does not lie about her muggle heritage, it is a touchy nerve for Claire and she has thoroughly embraced Wizarding culture. She plays quidditch (and is in fact a brutally effective beater), is in the dueling club, rarely wears muggle clothes, and speaks with a received pronunciation accent instead of her native Irish brogue.
At school she quickly attached herself to the popular clique. She is a hanger-on, a member of the retinue more than a member of the in-crowd itself, she is too mudblood and too brutal for full membership. But a useful sort of hanger-on, possessing much discretion and little ethics.
