Name: Roisin Olivia Lynch

Birthday: August 7th, 1924
Position: Gryffindor
Lineage: Muggle-born

Roisin is a somewhat tall girl with a rounded face framed by dark chestnut hair. Jade green eyes flank either side of a somewhat wide nose that sits above full lips--the lower slightly thicker than the upper--along with an angular jaw and a rounded chin. Her torso seems just a tad too short for her height, or perhaps her arms just a touch too long, combining to make a girl who gangles more than a touch but tends to tower over a fair portion of those around her. When she smiles it's full of teeth--a few of them crooked--and when she speaks it's with the lilting brogue of Northern Ireland.
Typically Roisin is seen wearing her school uniform. Rather notable by the scarlet and gold colouring she must have sorted into House Gryffindor. A grey vest edged in gold and scarlet covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt-line to the collar and accented with a scarlet tie with narrow gold stripes. Tthe shirt is tucked neatly into a matching grey pleated skirt. Skirt and stockings meet at the knees, and black shoes are worn on the feet. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Gryffindor Scarlet fabric, unadorned except for a scarlet-maned golden lion standing rampant over a scarlet background with gold fret sewn over the heart.

Roisin lynch was born an only child in Swords, Ireland, to James 'Jimmy' Lynch--A factory worker--and Mary Abernathy--A seamstress--, a middle-class couple of modest wealth. They never quite agreed on matters of discipline: her father tended to dote and make allowances whereas her mother was significantly stricter, alternating between hammering Gaelic into her skull and hammering cooking lessons into her skull, creating a sort of storm that one saw coming from miles away but still tended to find themselves caught in. Roisin had a temper that ran hot and a vocabulary that, even early on, tended to run blue. This changed only slightly after she discovered magic, although in the beginning it was only stage magic. Her mischievous tendencies combined with her new-found love of sleight of hand lead into coin games, fights over coin games, and sudden not-easily-explained occurrences while escaping from fights over coin games. The cycle of doting and scolding turning steadily more turbulent over time as arguments broke out and rifts formed between all family members, the largest forming between mother and father, only deepening when matters of finance came up after the invitation to Hogwarts came. Her parents had never acknowledged her 'magical' outbursts, tending to think her stories fantasies or just plain lies and at some point it was decided: Roisin's education would continue, their marriage wouldn't. By the time Roisin left for Hogwarts it was a welcome escape.

Her first year was largely spent in a library, sequestered away with a stack of books taller than she was as she dove into research on anything and everything that caught her interest. This, unfortunately, did not translate into a great deal of success academically, and it became increasingly apparent that the young girl -only- devoured books when they caught her interest, and sometimes they did so in the wrong order. This became especially troublesome when she first picked up her electives, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. However: over time she did manage improvement, coping and refocusing as she found a goal to shoot for, passing her O.W.L.S and picking up the required N.E.W.T classes for a hopeful career as a Cursebreaker

Now with time and temperament behind her she's learned to restrain herself somewhat, a decently respectable girl who only gave hints at her past when in company she was totally at ease with, totally at odds with, or totally bored with.

RP Hooks

  • Bookworm: She buries herself in the library at least once a week, and can often be found studying there. Bring up a topic of interest to her and she'll gladly chat your ear off. Recommend a book she turns out to like and she will spend hours telling you about her favorite parts
  • Fight me: Roisin will typically be more than happy to argue with you on anything and everything with a grin on her face if you decide to engage her. Whether it's a debate over who was the most influential wizard in curse breaking history or a tirade on the clear inferiority of marshmallow fluff compared to other marshmallow mediums: she's guaranteed to treat it with the same level of (usually un-serious) seriousness.

  • Bold

Logs featuring Roisin Logs that refer to Roisin

James Lynch
Father: (1884-????) Roisin was always Daddy's girl, he taught her to hold her own in a proper scrap, coached her on some of her coin tricks, and overall spoiled the girl whenever possible. She's still very close to her father and tends to spend her holidays with him

Mary Lynch nee Abernathy
Mother: (1889-????) Her mother was always the disciplinarian, and while Roisin came to understand that she behaved as she did out of love: There's still some resentment present from past wrongs that the girl hasn't quite allowed to let go. Her mother tries her best to mend whatever rift has opened between them, and to make both her and her father happy Roisin tends to spend every other holiday with her.
