Description
A mop of curly blonde hair surrounds the chubby face of this young lady, a pair of wideset brown eyes peering out from over an unremarkable nose and a broad mouth. Her ears seem a little large for her face, and it's not the only large thing about her. A good few inches taller than most of her peers, she walks with a stoop to try to blend in, and her build could only be described by the very generous as 'big boned' or by the less generous and more literal as 'a bit of a fattie'.
At the moment Grace is wearing a Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry uniform. Rather notable by the yellow and black colouring she must have sorted into House Hufflepuff. A grey vest edged in yellow and black covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt-line to the collar and accented with a yellow tie with narrow black stripes. The shirt is tucked neatly into matching grey pleated skirt. Skirt and stockings meet at the knees, and black shoes are worn on the feet. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Hufflepuff Yellow fabric, unadorned except for a black badger standing rampant over a yellow background with black 'ermine tufts' sewn over the heart.
Background
Grace means well. Neither blessed with looks, athleticism, confidence or brains, she at least represents the Hufflepuff trait of extreme loyalty (and eating cakes). Somebody once told her that 'gullible' had been removed from the dictionary, and she spent an hour trying to find it. Sarcasm tends to pass her by, but any act of kindness cements itself in her tiny mind as the behaviour of a true and honest friend, and she will defend them to the end.
Born to one of the smaller wizarding families in the East Riding of Yorkshire, she's always struggled with her education, enjoying her time with her mother in the kitchen, learning to cook (and tasting the food), much more than her time at a desk, trying without avail to learn from books. Not being able to learn quickly frustrates her, but she has a dogged determination, fuelled by the encouragement of her father, an otherwise unremarkable low end clerk in the ministry, and by rewards of cakes and sweets from her mother when she gets the smallest thing right.
Not unsurprisingly, she was sorted into Hufflepuff within half a second when she finally reached Hogwarts.
