If I could find Gage right now, I don't know whether I would hex him or hug him. As horrifying as my cousin could be, I made the stakes of this game completely clear to that filthy mudblood idiot. The game has begun in earnest, and I've yet to move more than a few crucial pieces into place. It's not enough. It's nowhere near enough. I haven't the skills, the knowledge or the resources to fight what will very much become a civil war. The little backing I had from Medusa is sure to be withdrawn, the progress I had made with other members of my house potentially undone.

Supporters of Julian are too cowed to speak up after his defeat. They're scattered, and far be it from them to unite under a fifth year. I don't know what's happening over New Years - At this point, if Alphard successfully convinces my Mother, I may yet enter his care for fourteen days. His promise would be sure to come true then. I have plans about that, but nothing that will yield what I'm after. There is no pleasant outcome.

My quill is shaking. Stop that. You're better than this. Better than him.

I can't do this anymore.

My thoughts are consumed with Alphard, and just what he would do with fourteen days and my wand.

Gage, you complete fucking asshat, you've ruined me.

Goodnight, Parchment. I promise I'll burn you tomorrow.
