Description
Len is a young man with warm brown eyes. He wears simple and clean clothing, from the yellow robes of an apprentice Healer to the plain attire he favors in casual life. His short hair and smooth cheeks give him the fresh-faced look of someone still discovering his place in adult society.
Background
Leonard Hiroshi Banes was born on the first of December, 1920 in London, England. His father is Michael Banes, a Hit Wizard for the Ministry of Magic, and his mother is Sayuri Sano, a Muggle who emigrated from Japan as a young adult. Len is a half-Blood wizard, like his father, and gets along well with both of his parents. Growing up, they taught him to be hardworking, dedicated, and respectful, and both are proud that he chose to be a Healer. His family has a comfortable level of wealth and lives in a modest London home.
Len started at Hogwarts in 1932 and was sorted into Gryffindor after some deliberation. For electives, he took Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures. At first it seemed as though he didn't have much aptitude for Charms and Transfiguration, although he did well enough in his other classes. However, when he found out that he needed to do well in Charms and Transfiguration to become a Healer, he worked hard to improve in those classes and ended up excelling in them, along with Potions and Herbology, all four of which he took as N.E.W.T.s. While he enjoyed watching the school Quidditch games, he never played himself, and he was never made a prefect. He graduated in 1939.
After graduating, Len became an apprentice Healer at St Mungo's Hospital, where he earned enough to live comfortably. He hadn't yet started a family, though he hoped to one day. He loved to read books and occasionally write stories and poems in his spare time. He was still the hardworking, dedicated, and respectful boy his parents brought him up to be, but at Hogwarts he discovered a passion for helping people, whether it was with homework, personal problems, or just needing to talk. He also grew to be fiercly protective of his close friends and the younger students in Gryffindor.
