Description

Outside

This multistory building houses a number of upper middle class flats. The brown brick facade is accentuated by cream colored cornices at the top of each floor, matching the color of the window frames. A large double glass door leading into the building on one side and its twin leads into a small communal garden filled with decorative plants in the back.

Inside

The Pembridge Apartments lobby uses a minimalist style to convey a sense of understated elegance. A wide hallway floored in a simple cherry parquet leads from the large glass double doors at the front entrance to their twins at the back which frame a view of the communal building's communal gardens.
Butter cream colored walls are interrupted on one side by two elevators and on the other by a bank of small bronze filigree postbox doors. A white plaster miniature column, about three feet high, stands exactly between the two elevators holding a vase full of vibrantly colored silk flowers adding a touch of color and cheer to the lobby. The front windows provide a clear view of the Notting Hill streets.

Apartments

Floor_Plan.jpg

An empty apartment. Several packing boxes are stacked here and there. The stringent scent of cleaning products and fresh paint is strong and ever lingering. The neighborhood is a rather upper working class area and the residence reflects that to every nook and corner. More often than not the floors are all hardwood, waxed and polished in all shades from pale pine to dark oak in the fancier apartments. This lovely apartment is comprised of several rooms. A mud room just inside the front door is lined with racks and storage space for outside wear and poor weather accessories. If the home is multi-leveled the stairs usually are very close by the foyer. Every home comes with a living room area that's most usually adjoined to a dining room which is attached to a kitchen. Within the kitchen there are several appliances such as gas stove, sink, and refrigerator. Often there is storage space under any available stairway. More often than not the floors are all hardwood, waxed and polished in all shades from pale pine to dark oak in the fancier homes. Every home is slightly different in its lay out. But there are always of course the necessary rooms and at least one indoor bathroom.
