Imperial College in London — the central hub of diplomats and other extraordinary tools of the British Empire — is a massive pile of bricks and glass which has, over the years, slowly grown into a single organized mass. Beneath dozens of covered walkways and across a whole collection of quads, students hum across the campus, strutting from place to place in little clusters, heads together. There are even a few women visible, perhaps attending secretarial schools in one of the satellite stations. The lovely brick-and-mortar structures are, in many places, steepled. But there is a central entry gateway, and beyond that, a great domed structure holding the largest lecture halls on campus as well as the administrative core of the university.

Imperial College Dormitory

The dormitories of Imperial College are more than spare; they are downright Spartan. While the walls are white-washed, it appears that they have not been whitewashed in some time. Paint is cracking in a few places, and it is stained in others. While the room may not have space for much, it does have space for a wall of bookshelves, a rolltop desk, and a small bed. Room inspections guarantee that the bed is crisply made, and that the floor remains spotless.
