Desc Wanted. Wikipedia Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum has been displaying realistic works of art of famous people and horrific wax re-enactments since Marie Tussaud created a museum in 1835. Her Grandsons founded the museum where it is found now on Marylebone Rd. in 1884. Many of Madame Tussaud's 400 figures she created herself were lost in a fire in 1925. But one figure, The Sleeping Beauty is the oldest existing figure on display. It was modeled after Madame du Barry. She appears asleep and a device in her chest makes it seem as if she were breathing.

The Chamber of Horrors

A portion of the Museum that was an original fixture since it's opening in 1835 was: The Chamber of Horrors. The exhibit contained graphic depictions of slaughters, torture chambers of the French Revolution and later other nefarious criminals and gore filled scenes of historic and present note were added to the Chamber.
