Description
Nestled in the heart of the West End, the Arlington Street lobby is bedecked in the sort of over the top glamour that can only be found in places that tiptoe the line between taste and trying too hard. A floor of perfectly polished chequered marble bounces the natural light around in daylight hours, as of course do the floor to ceiling, walnut framed mirrors taking up an awful lot of the available wall space. Here and there, small couches and chaises reside, all of the same matching, regal purple velvet, with cushions and bolsters of charcoal and gold - simply dripping opulence, or what the designer expects opulence to look like. The main desk, an enormous curved affair in the centre where the main floor opens out from the entry, is manned at all times by sharp-dressed busboys and efficient receptionists, who direct guests to the applicable elevators or hallways. Here and there, vivid potted plants of orange or red break up the monotony with a glimpse of natural beauty - though their spiked leaves aren't particularly enticing.
Empty Apartment Description
An empty residence. The Green Park neighborhood is a rather upper working class area and the residence reflects that to every nook and corner. Bare floors and walls are freshly scrubbed and painted. Several packing boxes are stacked here and there. The stringent scent of cleaning products and fresh paint is strong and ever lingering. This home is comprised of several rooms. A mud room just inside the front door is lined with racks and storage space for outside wear and poor weather accessories. If the home is multi-leveled the stairs usually are very close by the foyer. Every home comes with a living room area that's most usually adjoined to a dining room which is attached to a kitchen. Within the kitchen there are several appliances such as gas stove, sink, and refrigerator. Often there is storage space under any available stairway. More often than not the floors are all hardwood, waxed and polished in all shades from pale pine to dark oak in the fancier homes. Every home is slightly different in its lay out. But there are always of course the necessary rooms and at least one indoor bathroom.
