Wizarding Library West End London

It is a summer night. The weather is warm and overcast.
The Wizarding area of the Library is of course for wizards only and is hidden from muggle sight. Every imaginable book a wizard could want can be found here, or most likely acquired upon request. During the day many wizards mill about at the shelves or are seated at the available tables in the circular space in the center of the surrounding shelves that ladders and stairwells wind about for stories above the floor. A dome of iron and glass high above the stacks at the top of the tower of knowledge allows the day light in. Some windows can be found scattered amongst the shelves.
Afternoon has come to London, and it's typically quiet in the library. Annie came back from her errand to a book shop on Diagon Alley a bit…. unsteady on her pins. She never imagined a single shot of firewhiskey would pack such a whallop, or surely she would never have tipped that glass back. A bit of quiet time in the back office, and she's much less wobbly. She sips from a glass of water, a bit of pink still in her cheeks, and says ruefully, "Never again. Blimey."
Klio comes towards Annie with her eyebrows raised up. "Are you unwell Annie?" There is a concern for her friend, but there is also that bit of Professional concern of a different sort.
Annie looks up, misery written all over her, but she puts on a brave face. She should have known better and that's that, now she's paying for poor judgment. "I'll be fine, Klio. It's just…. have you heard of a woman called Eddie Malfoy?"
Klio still has that look, it's becoming more so that Supervisor expression. "I went to School with her. 5 years apart though. I take it you've recently met?" The friend in Klio has her coming over to place the back of her hand on Annie's forehead to check for fever.
Even with a couple hours distance from the shot, Annie will likely still be warm to the touch, and she looks sheepish as she goes on. "Yes, just today as I was coming through the Leaky Cauldron. I stopped a moment to talk to her, and a man… Donner Jones." Annie pauses, then looks up, "She's very outspoken. Asked if he and I had ever snogged since we looked near in age. Can you imagine?" Despite her waning misery, Annie smiles at the woman's cheek.
Klio blinks in shock, "She actually had the nerve to ask if you'd snogged a stranger because you were the same age? It's true then what they say about the Malfoy's." They are all out of their minds in one way or another.
Annie's eyes widen, "Cor, Klio, that's not the half of it! Mr. Jones had just taken a shot of firewhiskey, and his reaction to the question was to nearly kill himself on it and spray it all over the bar." She smiles, shaking her head slightly, "Honestly, you and Michael's mum must have dulled me to such a line of inquiry. Before I knew it was coming out, I said 'well it wouldn't have been /that/ bad'. He just looked horrified by the thought."
Klio frowns shaking her head she moves to elegantly crouch down to wrap her arms around Annie for a cuddle. "Beastly." She takes Annie by the chin and lifts it up. "You shouldn't allow yourself to be so bullied. Why he would be the luckiest man in London - next to Michael."
Annie returns the hug, but smiles at Klio's words. "I felt bad for him, actually. He seemed so shocked at the suggestion, it made me wonder, for a moment, if he's never been kissed." She looks a bit thoughtful, "He wasn't exactly bad looking. Perhaps, under other circumstances, he may have been quite charming." She shrugs lightly, and will likely never know. "But, I have to admit, I found myself a bit flustered as well. Which was when I drank a shot of firewhiskey."
Klio gives a little very prim, very British piffle noise. "With a poor manner like he has, I would not bet against that notion. —" Then she blinks owlishly at Annie to the last part of her confession. "Annie, I'm shocked! Please tell me that you will not make this a habit."
Annie's eyes widen, "Oh heaven's no, Klio!" She laughs softly, "I rather feel like someone spent the better part of the day kicking me." A hiccup brings up a puff of grey smoke. "Well, at least it's getting lighter, but cor, how long will I be hiccupping smoke?" she laments with a rueful giggle.
Klio can't help but giggle along with Annie and give her a closer hug. "I'm not sure. I've never had anything but some wine during dinners." Sheltered, prim little thing that Klio is. "Why don't you take the rest of the day off, last thing we need is the books to smell smoky." She's trying to balance friendship and administration here, so she's making a light thing of sending Annie home.
Annie does look grateful, "I didn't want to leave you shorthanded, but perhaps it is late enough in the day that it'll hardly matter." She squeezes Klio back, "Do give my regards to Michael and Mrs. Thompson, will you?"
Klio hmms, "Would you like to go to our place instead? It is very much closer to here, afterall, it's why we purchased it after all." Already she is pulling out her keys and placing them in Annie's hand. "Mrs. Thompson would die for the chance at company, and the ability to tease and torment you along the way." Klio's giggle bubbles as she giggles.
Annie accepts the keys with a smile. "I'd love to spend some time with her, and I'll let her tease and torment to her heart's delight," she girl promises, laughing softly. Yes, once she hears this story, it's no doubt she will find some delight in it. "We'll have tea ready for you when you get home." Another hug and Annie gathers her few things and slips out for the short walk to the Thompson home.
