Garden, Hogwarts

It is a winter day. The weather is cold and overcast.

Sculpted box woods and grafted flowering trees border fountains and statuary, benches of a wide variety of shapes and sizes affording a person the opportunity to stop and appreciate the beauty here or a quiet moment from the courtyard. A riot of salvia and geraniums are visible from one angle, maroon begonias alongide tall and bright scarlet bee balm blaze from the southern corner. Black eyes susans, contrast with rising sunflowers, tightly-clustered heads of sunny marigold and goldenrod bob lazily in the breezes that blow from the west. Across from the sunflowers, a profusion of green in the form of hostas and ferns coupled with Canterbury bells and even a few pitcher plants twist in a wilder jungle of more loosely-controlled foliage. Deep blue foxgloves, creeping lobelia and Siberian iris serenely fill the northern corner. Seventh Year Herbology students tend the garden of their own House's colors, those who truly care for their duties obviously taking visible pride in the health of their flowers.

Briar chuckles and shakes her head, "Yay, a girl really loves being asked out for pities sake." She snerks and juts over to the side to bump her shoulder against Leos. "I'm over him, by the way. I learned he isn't good for me, so it's over. Done. A whole lot of words that mean over."

An arm reaches up to drape over Briar's shoulder, "Fineto, completed, ended, final, terminate, conclude, close, stop, cease, settle, resolved, culminated…" Leo could probably continue but what's the point when he's already said enough of those words, "Just because it's over doesn't mean you're heart is free to find another." He squeezes Briar for a moment and then removes his arm.
Randy's robe is open, her hands jammed in her pockets to guard against the cold as she strolls slowly into the gardens with a slacker's grace. Her eyes graze about the gardens and past Briar and Leonardo where their settled. Suddenly she shifts her direction, pulls out a pair of shears, and begins to walk towards Briar and Leonardo.

Briar leans against him gratefully and even smiles at him genuinely. "Well I'm not looking for love. I'm looking for companionship, some fun, a good friend. I'm going to be 17 in a matter of days, I'm young, free, and just want to make the most of it. So how bout a snog?" The last part is said with a face that can't be kept straight and she chuckles and smirks after saying it playfully. "Hey Randy." She gives a friendly greeting when the girl approaches. "How's life?"

Leonardo's quirks an eyebrow at Randy's shears, but he grins at Briar, "Why stop at a snogging? We could just run off to Italy and get married?" His tone is joking. Clearly just going along with Briar. He then turns to glance at Randy, "Hey Macmillan, how are you?'

Randy stops abruptly not at Briar's words /to/ her, but when she hears the word 'snog.' She ends up right in front of them, scissors in hand, and tilts he head with a little smile. "Life's wonderful. Can you hold these for me?" She actually just sets them down, whether they end up in Briar's lap or on the ground. Then she turns to address Leonardo with a smirk, "Heya Love. How many times have I told you I don't play bloody quidditch." She then leans down at the waist and plants a slow, more than a greeting kiss on the Head Boy's lips.

Briar wags her brows at Leo, "Right now? Let's go. Married in Italy to one of the most eligible bachelor's in Britain, could be worse." She smiles up at Randy, "I'd hold them, but we're about to elope." Is said as she scoops up the shears for safe keeping. Indication that she's joking still. "You don't mind, do ya?"

And then Randy is making out with him, Leo pauses his hand reaching up to push Randy away from him, however… the part of her that he uses just so happens to be the bit that is closest to him, namely her chest. "Not that I don't appreciate the sentiment Randy, but… someone give you a love potion or something?" He looks a bit confused by all this… action.

Randy is pushed away, but instead of disappointment, she just looks amused, slightly incredulous. "Really? Is that the best you can do?" She apparently hasn't noticed that Leo's hand is…still there. She glances towards Briar and then arches her eyebrows, "Elope? You've got to be joking." She turns her gaze back to Leonardo. "This is rich." Then her eyes drop to her own chest. "You might want to gather your.."wits.""

Randy can feel the slight pressure of Leo's fingers around her breast… because he's totally copping a feel.

Briar nods, "Yep, come spring break, Leo and me, we're going off to Italy and getting married in a huge empty cathedral and - of course I'm kidding. - We'd wait til Summer, because Hogwarts doesn't accept married witches or wizards. But Leo's graduating and I'm leaving anyways. So it just works out beautifully." She gives Leo a pretty smile and takes up his arm in a playful clingy hug and bat of her lashes.

The fingers on Randy's chest trail off slowly returning to his side, he stands up pulling away from both women, "Something stinks in Denmark." Leonardo quotes Shakespeare He glances between the two, almost positive this is some sort of setup. "I don't know what the game is here… but clearly I'm not privy to it. And you cannot expect a man to play a game whose rules he does not know." He bobs his head to the two women and then turns and begins walking away from them both.

Randy doesn't seem fazed in the slightest. Once Leonardo has turned to start walking away, she holds her hand out to Briar, palm up. "Thank you for holding onto those for me. May I?" she asks in a polite tone, asking for the shears back. "Boys, they never know how to take a joke yeah?"

Briar daws, "Come on Leo! Just messing around. Don't go. Don't leave. You were doing so well letting loose for a bit there." She keeps ahold of the shears. "Well since you randomly walk up to people and kiss them. I'm afraid I don't exactly feel safe giving over the scissors Randy, afraid you're the random stabbing sort too. But…" She stands up and grabs her robe up and tosses it to drape over her shoulder. I'll put them down on the bench over there. Just promise not to chase after us with it. Hmm?" She's saying it all in friendly tones as she enacts it too. "See you later Randy. Try not to snog too many random people hmm?" A wink is given and the shears are down. Then she's calling, "Leo, wait up." To follow after him with a chuckle.

"Uh, okay. I was trying to cut some vines, for a special project." Yeah, sure. "I'm not crazy," Randy says, not really knowing how to take Briar's words. "At least I don't randomly ask people to snog me…I just get it done." She walks past Briar and snatches up the scissors. "Better run quick before I randomly stabby-stabby," her hand on her hip.

Glancing behind him as Briar shouts not to leave, Leo slows down enough for Briar to catch up to him, albeit slightly reluctantly. He glances at the Hufflepuff, "What was that?" He inquires. His hands going unconsciously to his pants smoothing the invisible wrinkles there. Another glance backwards at Randy to see what she's doing. The seventh's anger at whatever mockery was played on him just below the exterior.

Briar smiles and reaches out to give his arm a little soothing rub. "That was her overhearing us talking about snogging and her coming up trying to prove a point or something. Just Randy taking things too far, being Randy. I wasn't making fun of you. In fact I'm grateful you stopped to try and get my mind off of things. At first I thought you two might have been an item." She waves over her head, "See ya Randy. Don't cut anything without Beery's permission or I'm gonna have to tell him." Prefect responsibility and all that.
