Hogwarts Castle, Great Hall

Braziers that hang by chains from the beaks of griffin gargoyles that line the walls where they meet the high vaulted enchanted ceiling offer warm illuminating blazes. Four long tables are evenly spaced with the heads of the table at the north and south of the room. Each table has a cloth runner down the center and a plush rug underneath of the different House colors indicating to which house the table belongs.

The most westerly table is the Slytherin table. Beside them is the Ravenclaw table. The Gryffindor table is then between the Ravenclaw table to the west and the Hufflepuff table which is the most easterly table. One other table along the northern wall up on a dais for the Professors to sit at and look over all four of the other tables. Also on the dais is one lectern gilded in gold with an owl spreading it's wings at the top of the lectern. Candles line the tops of the owl's wings to illuminate anyone speaking at the lectern. A stool like protrusion comes out of the lectern as well as that's where the first years sit when they are sorted.

There are three sets of doors in the Great Hall. The main exit and entrance that leads to the Entry Hall is a large set of double wooden doors carved with vines and flanked by high stone pedestals each set with a small brazier above the stony 'H' carved in the pedestal. On the eastern wall is a much smaller door just next to the dais that's attached to the antechamber the first years come up from the lake through. Lastly one other door is set into the northwest corner behind the High Table.

As always high above within the obscured stone and wood cathedral like buttresses and crockets the outside weather is reflected in an illusion with all the sound and visuals of the weather, just without the actual effects of it.

"Captain! When are we starting to work on that secret project we talked about a few days ago? I sent a fast owl home and I have something to contribute." Gabriel is dashing into the Great Hall and when he see Cillian he almost literally skids to a halt to call out to him.

Cillian blinks and looks up from where he was sitting, writing a prettily worded and calligraphy filled 'condolence letter' and he sets down his quill to motion for Gabriel to come closer. "Come Gunny, I 'ave…chips! And also carrots…"

Gabriel dashes toward Cillian and then covers the last few feet by diving into a feet-first baseball slide which he smoothly turns into a cross-legged sitting position. Pulling his bag off his back he opens it up and offers the insides for inspection. Inside the bag there's packages of Oreos. Lots of packages. "I have cookies from America. My Grandad sent them and they were waiting for me to get home but I told Mom I had a better use for them." He seems much happier than he has ever since the announcement of the attack a few nights ago.

"…" Cillian peers curiously into the bag, lips forming a tiny 'o' before blinking several times. "I've n-never seen biscuits like that. What are they?" He inquires curiously, nose wrinkling.

Gabriel grins and reaches with both hands into his bag. Crinkling sounds come out of the bag as he carefully opens one of the packages and then the smell of strong chocolate fills the air when he pulls out one of the precious cookies and offers it to Cillian. "Just try them!"

Cillian sniffs curiously before he's offered the cookie, accepting it and then he sniffs the treat, hmming softly and then tentatively licks the cookie before taking a slow bite….

And then in his head, angels sing and there's a glowing light and everything swirls around him in slow motion as his teeth sink/crunch through that delicious chocolate cookie and further into the cream and he has a moment of pure bliss.

(OOC: IC set for Elise and Charlie as they join the RP) - Gabriel and Cillian are sitting on the floor in a corner of the great hall. Gabriel is watching Cillian as the Captain seems to be having some sort of ecstatic moment.

"What's happening?" Elise asks. Quiet as her nickname, this one. Unless they were paying very close attention, she's quite snuck up on them. Her shoes didn't even make a sound on the stone floor.

By contrast, Charlie is an absolute mess, rampaging through the doors with a stick in her hand. She looks left, right, and sighs heavily to herself. Then she notices fellow Pirates and bounces over. "Have any of you seen Peeves?"

"E-eat this…Mousie…Curly…" Cillian offers softly. He's a wizard kid! He's never had an Oreo before. "I-It was chocolate and cream in my m-mouth and I heard lil' faeries singin' as everything got so bright…a-and I tink I heard a mermaid callin' me name and telling me to eat more…"

Gabriel looks up with a little start of surprise when Elise just speaks, right next to him. And then there's Charlie. Diving back into his big bag he pulls out two more cookies and offers one up to each girl,"I haven't seen Peeves. Try this, my contribution to our condolences project."

Elise raises her eyebrows at Cillian's flowery prose, but she takes the biscuit, inspects it, and takes a bite. After about 0.05 seconds her eyes get enormous and she cant stop the "Mmmmmm!" that pops out. "This is brilliant!" she says, and devours the rest. "I could eat a thousand of these, except I expect I'd get fat. What are these called?"

Charlie takes the cookie with her free hand and takes a big bite. As big of a mouth as she has, she's still a tiny girl. "Lovely!" she says, bubbly as usual. The last few days have seen her pensive, but not mourning. She's been stooping herself into activities such as her Peeves Hunt more and more. Individual adventures. "Hmm. I could use some tea."

Gabriel turns to look at Charlie as if she had just blasphemed. "Never! You eat Oreos with milk! You dunk them!" Then he pulls out four more cookie and hands them out before taking the one he keeps and saying, "And this is the other way to eat them. It takes some practice to get it right thought." He twists one cookie to the right and the other to the left, separating them while leaving all the cream on the bottom cookie then he starts licking the cream off.

"…do ye see? Mousie, Curly? They be perfect to be helpin' with the mission to cheer people up, they be…they be what they be and that's amazing!" Cillian chirps, eyeing other people in the Great Hall suspiciously before turning back to his crew. "We can 'ave some milk next time." He accepts the second cookie after cramming the rest of the first into his mouth and chewing as he concentrates on the next step. He mirrors Gabriel's movements, squinting and nodding to himself before licking and scraping the cream out of the cookie with finesse.

"I really have to get back to my room," Elise says, taking the cookie Gabriel offers. "But give me a few more, please? I want to give one to Luci, I think it will cheer her up." She grins. "Milk, hm?" But they're twisting, now, so she does that, and after a dubious look at the licking, she follows suit. Classic Oreos-eating scene. "Delicious," she says happily.

"I don't care what you're /supposed/ to eat them with. I want tea," Charlie exclaims with a roll of her eyes as if to say Gabriel will /not/ change her mind. She watches the boy closely though as he performs the twist move. Then she watches Cillian. Then she shrugs and opens her half bitten cookie to lick at the cream. "Why don't they just make this part?"

Christmas walks into the Great Hall with a book under his arm as he pauses at the door to allow him a moment to look around and see what is going on. He can smell the cookies and is in a mood for snack since he didn't eat any dinner. He hmmms and begins to walk towards the group giving them a slight wave.

Gabriel is about to respond to Charlie and given the expression on his face it looks like he was planning on being stubborn. But the he sees Christmas start heading their way and out of pure reflex he hides his Oreo filled sack behind his back, so that its right in between all the pirates. Then he thinks about it, turns around and pulls out two more cookies. Then with his free hand he motions Christmas to hurry up as he looks around to make sure no one else is paying attention to them.

Cillian nods politely to Elise and he giggles happily. "Be safe, Mousie and tis a tasty new treat we 'ave to share with others." Then he looks to Charlie and smiles fondly. "Because then we wouldn't 'ave to work for it, its like finding treasure! With yer tongue!" Then he looks back to Gabriel, blinking as he notices Christmas approaching and he just blinks slowly.

Christmas smiles slightly and says, "I smell cookies. Are you guys having a snack? Do you have any more to share?" Weaver asked with a raised eyebrow curiously looking between the small group.

"Well I'm lazy," Charlie says in response to working hard to find treasures with your tongue. She sighs and just continues to lick the rest of the cream off. It doesn't seem to have quite the same effect on her as chocolate, but it is keeping her busy.

Gabriel shushes Christmas as if he was divulging state secrets. Motioning for him to squat or sit he tells him. "They're special cookies. From America. And you earned them for being nice to me earlier today. Here." Once the boy is close enough to be given the cookies without a bunch of people seeing the exchange he offers the two precious Oreos.

Christmas crouches down as instructed and when he is handed the Oreos he blinks at their appearance. Christmas begins to turn them over as if he were looking at a book. He brings one to his nose and smells it and closes his eyes and says softly, "Bloody Hell that smells amazing." He begins to take a small bite and chew as if he were some snooty British man eating cheese. His eyes widen at the sweet taste and shoves the thing in his mouth and begins to chew.

Cillian eyes Charlie. "No yer not, yer a pirate." He sighs and shakes his head once more before looking between Gabriel and Christmas, eyeing the two thoughtfully and grinning at Christmas's reaction.

Charlie looks over at Cillian and blinks. "I may be a pirate, but I'm still lazy. And don't you try to change me Captain, I'm wonderful just the way I am," she says, absolutely affronted. The word she probably means is procrastination, but what are you going to do when you don't have any chocolate to scrap together two brain cells with. "I can be as lazy as I like," she says, getting up onto her feet and walking towards the exit, stick still in hand. She doesn't really pay Christmas any mind, too distracted by everything. She stops at the door to announce, "I'm going to go be lazy now," and then slips out.

Christmas grins widely for the first time in awhile and stuffs the last cookie in his mouth and chews before he looks at the two getting ready to leave. He gives them a smile a black mass of Oreo on his tooth and he says, "I need some milk. Wow thanks for the cookies guys. I will have to see if Dad can send me some of these." He gives them a wave and begins to walk towards the kitchens.

Gabriel hands the large bag full of Oreo packs to Cillian before the other boy leaves and waves to Christmas as he heads for the stairs. "Glad you enjoyed them! Now I have to go be a good Ravenclaw and study."
