12 November, 1938 — What began with an argument between a handful of young wizards and a business owner turned into a full blown riot in the streets of the Diagon Alley area. Numerous business were vandalised and looted, and St. Mungo's is reporting at least ten severe injuries as a result of the violence. Thus far, no deaths have been reported.
The business in question was Gambol and Japes Joke Shop, owned in part by the son of Ministry for Magic Titania Gambol. Reportedly, the argument was in regard to the shop's refusal to display the Eye of Truth in the shop window. The Minister has been associated with vocal opponents of Gellert Grindelwald, and some believe the initial conflict with her son's business may have been a message to her.
One business owner whose shop was looted (who has chosen to remain unidentified) blames the riots on the wizarding wireless radio personality, Brad Moody, who only recently called upon his audience to "rise up" and said, "It is time for domination of the Muggles and those who support their wicked ways."
