Dear Mr. Editor and Readers of The Daily Prophet:

On behalf of the Preservation Society, and I dare say all witches and wizards of a civilized mind, I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to the Sykes family and all others affected by the heinous attack on the Sykes Gala a few nights past.

The Preservation Society does share many of the view expressed by the criminals that perpetrated this attack but we most vehemently oppose the means by which these criminals have attempted to achieve their goals. The end most definitely do not justify the means. The use of Unforgivable Curses and terror attacks demeans even the most noble of purposes and those who lower themselves to the use of these tactics, regardless of their ultimate goals, are the lowest sort of vile criminals. Force should be reserved as a last possible resort and only used in self-defense and the defense of those unable to protect themselves.

In closing I would like to once again express my most sincerest sympathies to the Sykes, Malfoy, Proudmore, and Rousseau families as well as any others that might have been affected by these cowardly attackers.

Yours truly,
Gilbert Sullivan
