London — The Commissioner of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement has named Inspector Peregrine Urquart to succeed to the position of Magistrate of London, recently vacated by the retirement of long-serving Magistrate Galloway.
A 1902 graduate of Hogwarts, Magistrate Urquart is a thirty-seven year veteran of the MLE, and has been assigned throughout the British Isles, though he has spent most of his time in London. He has handled numerous high-profile cases in his career, most recently leading a team that captured agents attempting to use magic to steal muggle military secrets.
Minister Titania Gambol, who supported the appointment, said, "We are pleased to see such an experienced hand, with a reputation for probity and justice, taking an important role in Wizarding law. I look forward to hearing good things about Magistrate Urquart in the coming years."
Commissioner Bob Ogden, who once served alongside Mr. Urquart as a Hit Wizard, was characteristically blunt, "Few people in the history of the MLE have successfully handled more cases than Peregrine Urquart. He will be an asset to the Magistracy."
Magistrate Urquart, who will move into the Magistrate's Office immediately, will be assisted in his new role by Deputy Magistrate Grady Callaghan, who served for seven years under his predecessor. Together they will have responsibility for law enforcement and the adjudication of minor offenses within the London metropolis.
