Description
The young girl has not quite begun adolescence, and unlike many muggle children in wartime Britain, she doesn't seem to be in any hurry to get there. She comes up no more than chest high to your average adult, and has rich brown locks pulled into two buns, one on either side of her head. Nary a hair on her head is out of place if she's within eyesight of her keepers. Two merry, twinkling blue eyes peek out of a tanned oval face, set over the bridge of a pert nose that somehow straddles the line between button and roman.
She has on a fine, pink chiffon blouse trimmed with lace and puffy sleeves, paired with a matching medium-length skirt. What little jewelry she wears is, as appropriate for a child of high birth, handsome but not particularly expensive by the standards of the royal family — fine beads and simple solid bangles that are resistant to accidental damages.
Background
Born on the 21st of August, 1930, Princess Margaret has been a joy to the royal family, albeit a somewhat troublesome joy. Born in her mother's rural ancestral home of Glamis Castle, she was the 13th birth of the month in the small location; the registration of her birth was delayed for a few days to try and avoid additional bad luck. This did not prevent persistent and unfounded rumors in the news for the next four years that the young princess was deaf and mute.
While she received much of the same basic education that her sister had — excellent private tutors, a rigorous introduction to the arts and culture, socialization through the Girl Guides — expectations were and are simply never high for Margaret, even after her father was unexpectedly coronated. Her tutelage expects solely that Margaret will develop into a well-behaved, presentable, and marriageable young woman; even this seems unlikely at times, given just how thoroughly her father spoils Margaret, giving her many special privileges. Fittingly, the King refers to her older sister as his pride, and Margaret his joy.
Two years into Britain's war, with her sister occupied with her duties as a future queen, Margaret has begun to devote herself to music, taking private instruction in singing and piano playing. The sisters seem to like it this way, with Elizabeth appreciating Margaret's ability to joke and place everyone at ease during social events, but their governess despairs for Margaret's flagging discipline.
