Description
A girl with a natural musing air has mid-back black with sun bleached highlights of ruddy brown hair in a perfect finger-curl up-do french twist style. Soleil has rosy fair skin, reflective green eyes, stands about 5'1" tall and is approximately 120 pounds. Like a still pool or lake with a mirror like surface Soleil has eyes that can range from Aquamarine to Zebra Stripped depending on the colors and patterns she's wearing. Her face is still soft and rounded attractively, not yet having shed the typical infamous 'baby fat'. Dark eyebrows are expressive and thick over her eyes that are set symmetrically to either side of a little British Button nose. Though typically serious her bow shaped lips are naturally pulled into a sweet soft smile when she's not speaking in her crisp Londoner's accent. Rather well endowed in curves one would expect on an older girl, she is not thin nor is she plump. She carries herself with modesty and sophistication no matter her build.
At the moment Soleil is wearing a Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry uniform. Rather notable by the green and silver colouring she must have sorted into House Slytherin. A grey vest edged in green and silver covers a crisp white Oxford shirt, buttoned from the belt-line to the collar and accented with a green tie with narrow silver stripes. The shirt is tucked neatly into matching grey pleated skirt. Skirt and stockings meet at the knees, and black shoes are worn on the feet. Over all of this flows a voluminous black robe lined in soft Slytherin Green fabric, unadorned except for a silver snake slithering over a green background with a silver chevron sewn over the heart.
Background
Soleil Winefred Parkinson comes from a family who have been in the potions business a very long time. Quite a bulk of the potions that find their way to St. Mungo's has the Parkinson trademark on the label. It was during a delivery to St. Mungos when Dean Parkinson, working from the bottom up was shuffling around a crate and spotted at that point in time an apprentice healer that enchanted Dean at first sight.
Grampa Dean Parkinson Sr. found it odd that his son rather was excited all of a sudden when it was delivery day. But a year later when Dean Jr. brought home Danielle Bonnesante, Grampa Dean (if he was not happily married for 50 years to a formidable woman) would have probably have fallen in love himself! They announced that night that they were engaged and within the few hours the dinner took it was obvious that Danielle was a perfect addition to the family. Both families from old Pure-Blood lines - one from England, the other from France. Together they combined and several years after careful formulation and planning created Soliel. Then with more planning came Dean III, Cosette and then Maurice. With two boys and two girls this branch of the Parkinson Family Tree were happy and potions saw to the end of said branch's procreation.
They all lived very happily in the Holborn neighborhood in London enchanted and obscured from Muggle awareness, so Danielle could be close to St. Mungos and Dean Jr. could be close enough to Diagon Alley where his and his father's lab was located. They have always enjoyed the separation of Muggles from Wizards, while the family doesn't want to see Muggles extinct or anything her family before the Statute of Secrecy were rather used and abused by the Muggles. So it's made the line (even this long departed from that time) wary of Muggles.
Grampa Dean died the summer before Soleil's first year, he contracted an illness that there was no potion in existence could cure. It was during this summer grieving the loss of her beloved grandfather that perhaps molded Soleil into having the dedication and strive to not just make the same old recipes the Parkinsons have made for millennia, but to innovate and create new potions that will set the world on it's ear. Potions that will save the life of any grandfather who's time was cut too short. Potions that will cause love without all of the obsession. Potions that could end all of this madness going on around her. Lofty goals but she full well intends on doing her upmost and everything necessary to accomplish them. Her pure-blood status combined with this new go get'em attitude is what made the Sorting Hat put her into Slytherin. While if she went the year before she could have ended up in any house. It could safely be said that the first experience of death so close to her jaded the young girl.
Soleil started Hogwarts at an advantage, as she was already very well versed in Herbology, Charms and Potions thanks to the family business. Grampa Dean and Professor Slughorn were also very good friends, Hogwarts Chums. So some think it favoritism that she is never called upon for the hard questions during class. Really actually Slughorn leaves her rather well alone to do as she likes during classes. As far as Soleil is concerned it's a matter of the squeaky wheel. She doesn't need the help, nor needs to show off her greater knowledge.
