WIP Tags

Another type of tag you might commonly see is a "wip" tag. This stands for "work in progress", meaning that the page is unfinished and in need of more information. See our Works in Progress page for more details on what the various wip tags mean and how you can help.

When you are done adding your information to your new character bio page, hit the "Save" button to save your page. Scroll down to the bottom of your newly filled-in page. There you will see a row of small links. Click the "Tags" link (second from the left) to add tags to your page. The easiest way to fill in your basic tags is using the +wiki/tags command in game. This will give you the tags to copy/paste into your wiki page. Some more specialized tags may be missing, though, so take note of the explanations below.

  • Capitalization is unimportant. tags will all end up in lowercase once saved.
  • Don't use commas to separate tags, just put a space between them.
  • The name tag is used for the log system (see below).
  • Tags are used to organize various lists, so precision is important. Check your spelling.

All character should have their name, Faction (don't forget hyphens, as necessary), and graduating year as tags, as well as "character".

Example: Linc the half-blood wizard has the following tag: character linc half-blood class1932

Hogwarts students should have "student" and their house name as a tag.

Example: Linc of House Gryffindor has the following tags: character linc half-blood class1932 student gryffindor

House Quidditch Teams should have their Quidditch position:

Example: Linc, Gryffindor Beater has the following tags: character linc half-blood class1932 student gryffindor beater

Hogwarts alumni should keep their house tag, and replace "student" with the "alumni" tag.

Example: Linc, alumnus of House Gryffindor has the following tags: character linc half-blood class1932 gryffindor alumni

Blood purity and family lineages is a big deal in this theme. To represent the characters surname and bloodlines of both the mother and the father (no further than the parents please) use the: "surname:name" and "Bloodline:name" tags.

Example: Linc's father is Quentin Palancher. Linc's mother is Holly Palancher nee Hobbs. He shares his father's surname. So he has the following tags: surname:palancher bloodline:palancher bloodline:hobbs
