Description
Madam Uma Patil, the Hogwarts librarian, is an Indian woman in her early thirties of average height. With prominent cheekbones and a complexion of soft caramel, she is as beautiful as she is helpful to the students that come to her library in search of knowledge. Perfect eyebrows arch gracefully above defined hazel eyes. A traditional maang tikka adorns her straight dark hair with its pendant resting against her forehead. She wears an ornate necklace and earrings to match. A blue sari drapes over her left shoulder, cascading to just brush the tops of her slippered feet. Beneath this fabric, she wears a short sleeved blouse, cropped at her midriff, with festooning vines and flowers embroidered in silver and gold thread.
Background
When Uma was 5 years old King George V proclaimed her home of Delhi India to be the capital of British controlled India. The outskirts to the south of the city where she lived with her wizard mother and father were leveled so that a new city could be erected in all it's British Ruled Indian glory, New Delhi. Her father began to work for the Mysteries Department of the Ministry of Magic once it was established as a British Branch. Her mother as well worked as an Aide for an Ambassador who worked in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. With both of her parents working her grandparents on both sides took care of her and they all lived rather comfortably on the joint income.
Being sent away to Hogwarts was a very hard thing for her. She was the first of her family to have to go to the United Kingdom's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was sorted into Ravenclaw and only felt better about being so far from home when she first laid eyes on the Hogwarts Library. She became the Librarian's assistant and in her third year was secretively very pleased when her family moved to London when the ambassador her mother worked for was transferred to England's Ministry. The Indian community that they moved into was very tight knit and Uma liked it very much. After getting top marks in her OWLs she left school and became a wife to a very nice Indian Wizard that she knew from Hogwarts though he was a few years ahead in Gryffindor. When she was 17 (1923) she gave birth to twin boys, Pallab and Pranay. Pallab when the time came for them to go to Hogwarts was sorted into Gryffindor and Pranay was sorted into Hufflepuff. Pallab is taking after what he's named for "budding leaf" and is becoming quite the student of Herbology. While Pranay, she's afraid she named him too aptly, when he was born he already had this dashing little face so she named him "romance". Surely enough recently he's discovered that he likes girls and they like him back. His grades are suffering but he is at least a gentleman with the girls. Since she became the Librarian of Hogwarts in 1936, it has allowed her to keep an eye on Pranay, much to his chagrin.

She is a community NPC, able to be used by players in library scenes at Hogwarts.
When using Madam Patil as a Community NPC, consider the following: Madam Patil loves books. The smell of them, the feel of their pages, but most of all the lore contained within. While she believes firmly in the preservation of books, it never goes so far is to discourage one from being handled or read. She is eager to help students find what they need, and always has a recommendation ready. Though sociable and friendly, she does hold to library etiquette, insisting upon quiet voices for the sake of those reading and studying.
