Family History

Glory

A family wins glory through a military victory, personal achievement, or by a great act of heroism. Glory is similar to ascent, but it focuses on he one figure in the family's past. The result of this individual's deeds advances the family's standing. As a first event this should imply that the family was formed as a reward for the great acts of the founder.

Defeat

The family fought a war or smaller conflict but was defeated, losing status, precious resources, and influence. If this is the first historical event the family might have been swallowed up by another Family or a marriage was forced until the original family bloodline became all but extinct.

Ascent

An advantageous marriage, a great deed, or heroism in a decisive battle/duel can all improve the fortunes of a family. If this occurs in the first historical event, it indicates that the family pure-blood status happened through marriage and or an act or deed that proved pure enough to be established as a Pure-Blood Family. Otherwise, ascent indicates that the family participated in some key historical event that improved their fortunes.

Treachery

This can be a suffering from or the actual committing of a treacherous act. In either case the event stains the family name. If it is a first event the family rose by means of some dark deed, possibly betraying another family to do so.

Scandal

The family was involved in some disaster, a scandal that haunts them still. Good options include spawning a bastard (worse still a half-blood bastard), incest (Brothers and Sisters, Parents and children - even that's too much for even the more fanatical pure-bloods. Now first cousins on the other hand is fine!), failed conspiracies, and so on. If this is the first event, the scandal somehow was used as a way of covering something else up that allows the family to get Pure-blood status. After all no matter how scandalous, siblings breeding does keep the blood pure!

Footing

This describes a period of peace and prosperity, a moment in the family's history remembered for growth and expansion. If this is the first result the family was born during a period of expansion. Power and wealth were chosen for this event.

Favor

The family gained the favor of some powerful body. As a result, their fortunes improved and they climbed in standing. This favor might also result from a member becoming Minister for Magic or on the Wizengamot. If this is the first event, the family got in good with the higher powers enough that they were deemed pure enough to be considered Pure-Bloods.

Family Identity

The Yaxley Family is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, and are known for purist sentiments. They are frequently sorted into Slytherin at Hogwarts. The family is usually located in Cambridgeshire and in Suffolk, England.
